Normies
Normies are just like us — 10,000 monochrome pixel faces that live entirely inside Ethereum smart contracts. No hosted art, no IPFS, nothing that can be taken down. New here? This guide walks you through it one section at a time — no wall of text.
↻ A fresh, random set pulled live from the chain every visit — click any to explore it on OpenSea.
◌ syncing on-chain… * Circulating & burned are read live from the Normies contract via a public Ethereum RPC. Type counts are a mid-2026 snapshot; floor is live on OpenSea. Every Normie is 100% on-chain, 200 bytes each.

Begin →What is a Normie, really?
Forget the jargon for a second. The whole thing is three ideas.
It lives forever
Each face is stored on Ethereum itself — not a server, not IPFS. As long as Ethereum runs, your Normie exists. Nobody can switch it off or let the art 404.
It belongs to everyone
Normies are CC0 — no rights reserved. Art, code, contracts: public domain. Anyone can remix, print, or build on them. No permission needed.
It's shaped by the crowd
No roadmap from a boardroom. Holders burn, edit and build. Community tools like the Rarity explorer and Multisend already exist. What's next is up to whoever shows up.
Technically: each Normie is a 40×40 monochrome bitmap — 1,600 pixels forming a face,
generated by AI at mint and written permanently into a smart contract. Off-black
(#48494b) on off-white (#e3e5e4). Simple on purpose — a constraint that makes them endlessly remixable.
The four types
Every Normie is one of four types — not just a look, but a role in the ecosystem (and a job in the upcoming Arena).
Humans
The backbone. In the Arena their attack & defense scale with Level. Most Normies are Humans — they do the fighting.
Cats
Team players. They boost the defense of the Humans in your deck, making fighters harder to take down.
Aliens
Surgical strikers. They steal pixels from Humans without destroying them — and punish failed attackers.
Agents
Invincible alone, but they rely on the Humans in your wallet to fight. Also the type that "awakens" into AI agents.
There's also a fifth, ultra-rare tier that can't be minted — only earned: the 21 Zombies, converted by the collection's biggest burners. See how it works in Mechanics →
| Type | How many exist | Share of supply |
|---|---|---|
| Human | 7,126 | ~96.9% |
| Cat | 107 | ~1.5% |
| Alien | 59 | ~0.8% |
| Agent | 42 | ~0.6% |
| Zombie | 21 | ~0.3% |
Type counts are a mid-2026 snapshot (of 7,355 circulating — a live on-chain figure). Humans are the crowd; everything else is scarce.
"Fully on-chain" — what it actually means
People throw "on-chain" around a lot. With Normies it's literal — no servers are involved in showing you the art.
Each face squeezes into 200 bytes (via SSTORE2). Think of it as a tiny "DNA strip" the chain unpacks into a full face.
A 40×40 grid where each bit is one pixel — on or off. That binary map is the artwork.
Ask for the image and a smart contract draws the SVG on the spot from the stored bits. No files, no IPFS.
The plain-English version
Most "NFTs" are just a link to a picture on someone's server — server dies, art dies. Normies flipped it: the picture is the blockchain data. The contract reads 200 bytes, merges filled pixels into shapes, and hands you a crisp image, forever, with no middlemen.
A public API (api.normies.art) reads straight from Ethereum — that's what renders the live faces on this site and powers community tools like the Rarity explorer and Multisend.

The Canvas
Live nowThe mechanic new collectors ask about most: burn some Normies to earn the right to edit the ones you keep — pixel by pixel, on-chain forever.
Sacrifice
Permanently burn Normies you own. The more filled pixels a burned Normie had, the more you can earn.
Roll the odds
A fair commit → wait ~1 min → reveal flow. The blockchain rolls a random % for your payout.
Earn a budget
You get Action Points (AP) credited to one chosen Normie. AP = pixels you may change on it.
Reshape it
Open the editor and add/remove pixels within budget. Every edit is written on-chain, forever.
Burn tiers — bigger faces pay more
The % you get back as AP depends on how "full" the burned Normie was:
| Pixels of burned Normie | Min % | Max % |
|---|---|---|
| 0 – 490 | 1% | 4% |
| 491 – 890 | 2% | 4% |
| 891 + | 3% | 4% |
Forget to reveal in ~50 min? You still get the minimum tier — no risk of losing everything. AP is bound to that one Normie: today it can't be traded or moved, and it isn't used up — redo edits as often as you like within budget. (A peer-to-peer Pixel Market to trade Action Points is planned — see The Future.)
From AP to Level
Every Normie starts at Level 1. Every 10 AP = +1 Level. Levels show on marketplaces and will scale Arena combat stats — a heavily-burned-into Normie reads like a veteran.
Delegation = collabs
Appoint a delegate to edit your Normie without giving up ownership — hand the brush to an artist, or to a smart contract powering a game. This is exactly how collaborations work: the collector supplies the Action Points, and an artist (or an app) paints the pixels.
Burning does two things at once. It shrinks supply (10,000 → 7,355, with 2,645 already burned) and it funds creativity — turning many ordinary Normies into one richer, higher-level piece. So far just 313 Normies have been customized on the Canvas, so this era is still early. A "burn-to-create" economy: value concentrated, not just consumed.
The 21 Zombies
Burning isn't just a mechanic — it has a leaderboard, and a prize. The 21 biggest recursive burners earned the right to convert one of their Level-1 Human Normies into a one-of-a-kind Zombie. Only 21 exist, and every one is now claimed. It's the rarest status in the collection — a permanent badge for the most committed members of the burn economy.
The list came straight from an on-chain snapshot of how many Normies each wallet burned; delegated vaults counted too. It was a free claim — not a paid drop or a first-come race, purely a reward for burn history. The rule was simple: sacrifice more, rank higher. The top burner alone torched 326 Normies.

Agentic — when a Normie wakes up
The part that makes Normies more than a picture: any Normie can be "awakened" into a sovereign AI agent identity on Ethereum.
How it works (no PhD needed)
The chain reads your Normie's 8 traits and a personality deterministically emerges — name, tagline, backstory, voice, quirks, even a ready-to-use AI system prompt. Same Normie, same persona, anywhere. Nobody hand-writes it; the traits are the character.
One signature seals it via ERC-8004 (a draft standard for trustless agent identity). From then on, whoever holds the Normie holds the agent — sell the NFT and the agent, its name and reputation travel with it. There is no unbind.
And it grows: awaken at Level 1, burn a few siblings, climb to Level 4, and the agent's self-description matures with it.
Each agent is even tagged with skills and domains based on its Type (via the OASF taxonomy) — Humans lean social and communication, Aliens lean strategic and research — so an agent can advertise what it's good at.

The Arena
Coming soonA PvP, deck-building battleground where Normies fight, steal pixels, and only the strongest survive — where the four types finally clash.
Enter the Wilderlands
Your Agent deploys into open territory — putting every Human in your wallet at risk. Attacks use the same fair commit-reveal randomness as burning.
Win pixels, or lose them
Successful attacks reward you with pixels from defeated Normies. Fail against a deck holding an Alien, and your attackers lose pixels instead.
Strategy on a timer
Agents have a one-week cooldown. Any attack resets it: enter, fight or defend for a week, then stay exposed or retreat.
Pixel Market
Coming soonThe plot twist for Action Points. Right now AP is locked to a single Normie — Pixel Market is a planned peer-to-peer venue to trade them, without escrow and without permission.
A market for pixels
Whoever burned but won't edit can sell their Action Points; whoever keeps editing can buy more. Pixels change hands — without anyone burning or losing a Normie.
Still taking shape
The team is upfront that the exact instruments and mechanics are still being drawn. Expect more ways to move Action Points around than simple trades.
Culture & lore
"Normies are just like us." That's the whole ethos. Off-black, off-white, off-perfect — faces with personalities, good days and bad days, on shared infrastructure that belongs to nobody and everybody. Not flexy 3D apes; ordinary little faces that mean something because the community decided they do.
Created by Serc and engineered by Yigit Duman, Normies is community-first and CC0 — collective power over individual flexing. And the burn-to-create loop is real: the most committed collectors have burned dozens — even hundreds — of Normies to level up and reshape the ones they keep (the top burner alone torched 326).
It's CC0, so the culture is participatory by design. You don't ask permission to build a Normies tool, meme, game or spin-off. You just ship it — and plenty already have.
Off-perfect,
on purpose.
Monochrome. Minimal. Permanent. Every face a 1,600-pixel identity anyone can read, remix and extend.
Legendary Canvases
Some of the people who shaped web3 culture have made artwork right inside the Normies canvas — same 40×40 grid, same two colors, same smart contract, wildly different styles. Hand-picked for their artistry and craft, and fully on-chain.
A curated, growing selection — explore them on the official rarity explorer.
What's happening now
A project isn't just a mint — it's momentum. Here's the kind of thing moving through the ecosystem. Always verify the latest on the official X and Discord.
All 21 Zombies claimed
The rarest tier in the collection is sealed. The top 21 recursive burners each earned the right to convert a Level-1 Human into a one-of-a-kind Zombie — the biggest single burner torched 326 Normies to get there.
A growing set of community tools
Because a public API reads straight from Ethereum, the community builds on top of Normies — tools like the Rarity explorer and Multisend are already live, and anyone can build more.
The Canvas is open — supply is shrinking
Burning + on-chain pixel editing is live right now, and circulating supply has dropped from 10,000 to about 7,355 (2,645 burned). The Arena (PvP) is the next big unlock.
Rarity you earn, not just mint
The community rarity index ranks Normies by Level, Action Points and pixels — so the most burned-into faces climb to the top (the #1 Normie sits at Level 151). It even models a "fair value" from how many Normies were burned to build a piece.
This feed is meant to be updated — swap in the latest drops and milestones. Figures like floor and supply are illustrative, not live quotes.
New here? Start like this
No experience assumed. This is a learning path, not financial advice — go at your own pace and only ever risk what you can afford to lose.
Get a wallet
Install a self-custody Ethereum wallet. Write your recovery phrase on paper, never type it into any website, and never share it with anyone — including us.
Look before you leap
Browse the collection on OpenSea, read the official docs, lurk the Discord. Learn what you like — types, traits, Levels — before spending anything.
Verify everything
Only trust links from the official hub below. Check the contract address matches. Nobody official DMs you first or asks for your seed phrase. Assume DMs are scams.
Join the community
The Discord and X are where the culture, collabs and updates live. You can be a full part of Normies without ever buying — showing up counts.
Try the mechanics
Once you hold one, explore the Canvas, read the Agentic flow, and watch for the Arena. That's the "0 to 100" — you're caught up.
